Presentation title
Keeping abreast of OHS risks in British Columbia: Mitigating threats through WorkSafeBC’s Risk Analysis Unit
Brief description of presentation
WorkSafeBC’s Risk Analysis Unit (RAU) focuses on risks that are not yet evident through claims or injury data. Although these risks are not fully revealed through claims or injury data, their consequences can be catastrophic, emerging, invisible or have long latency. The RAU’s role is to identify risks before harm is done. This approach enhances WorkSafeBC’s ability to understand how changes to workplace technology, processes, and innovation can impact occupational health and safety.
By attending the presentation, you will learn about the inception for the RAU’s creation, our strategic priorities, and the proactive ways we keep on top of risks in British Columbian workplaces. The presentation will also cover the RAU’s identification and assessment processes on specific OHS risks and the pragmatic mitigation efforts to control these dangers before harm is done.
